Get rid of those plastic water bottles containing BPA and other toxic substances and switch to stainless steel. I found the Contigo Brazos Stainless Steel Water Bottle 2 Pack at Costco the other day for a reasonable $22.99. I have used the Contigo coffee travel mug in the past and my biggest complaint was how difficult it was to clean the lid. Thankfully, the Contigo Brazos Stainless Steel Water Bottle comes with a lid cleaning brush and they’ve redesigned the lid so that it can be taken apart fairly easily so that you can clean the internal components. Just like the travel mug, the Contigo Brazos Stainless Steel Water Bottle comes with their Autoseal technology which seals the container in between sips. It’s basically a spring-loaded button that you press when you want to sip and let go when you’re done. Sounds basic but pretty handy. The bottle is supposed to keep water cool for 18 hours (similar to what the Hydro Flask water bottle does) but I have yet to test this out. So elevate your workout and keep hydrated with the Contigo Brazos Stainless Steel Water Bottle 2 Pack.

I can't tell you enough how a good quality backpack can go a long way. I think I've had my Jansport backpack since high school, and I still use it up to this day. Cascade Mountain Tech Carbon Fiber Trekking Poles

Hiking has always been one of my favorite activities. You can really enjoy nature and the outdoors and it's great exercise too. When I hiked atop Half Dome in Yosemite a few years ago, it was probably one of the most strenuous hikes I've had to endure - 10 hours total (6 up, 4 down). Along the way, I saw a few people using some trekking poles as they're hiking. Now I've always thought that trekking poles made you look kind of funny and totally uncool when you're hiking, so I always opted not to get any. Let me tell you though that if you plan on going backpacking or hiking a very long trail, trekking poles make a huge difference. It's a good thing Costco sells the Cascade Mountain Tech Carbon Fiber Trekking Poles. There are probably better poles in REI, but these are good enough for just a fraction of the price. You won't need poles for a simple, leisurely hike, but it really helps on those strenuous death marches that go on for several hours. They help with balance and make it easier for your back and knees which applies to me. I wasn't aware though that using trekking poles makes you burn more calories and works your upper body which are both an added bonus. You would think that trekking poles aren't worth having to lug them around, but these poles are light and help you more than hurt you during your hikes. It's definitely worth the investment whether you're a Bear Grylls type outdoorsman or just a weekend warrior. You're body will thank you for it.
