Silk Organic Unsweetened Almond Milk (3 pack)

For years I had been drinking soy milk...in my cereal, to make shakes, or just drinking it with some cookies. For those who are lactose intolerant, have heart diseases, or diabetes, this is a good alternative to dairy milk. I avoided dairy because of the cholesterol content. But I've recently made the switch to Silk Organic Unsweetened Almond Milk due to its lower calorie count as compared to soy. But the main reason why I've made the switch is because of how soy is produced. A lot of the soybeans grown in the US are genetically modified. Most of the soy products are also unfermented (in contrast to the fermented soy found in healthy, traditional Asian cooking, for example) and contains large amounts of phytic acid. Phytic acid, in large amounts, can block the uptake of essential minerals, like calcium, magnesium, copper, iron, and especially zinc in the intestinal tract. Soy-based foods are also not recommended for infants. Considering how processed unfermented soy can be, going with the Silk Organic Unsweetened Almond Milk made sense to me.
