We purchased a Tranquility Life Comfort throw blanket at the Costco in Glendora last night, brought it home and washed it. When i removed the blanket from the washing machine, it was balled up with chunks of material falling off of it, not to mention the shreds of material left behind in the machine. I decided to put it in the dryer to see if the lint catcher would collect the excess....Wrong!! What a big mess this created in my dryer as well. I took it outside to shake it out and it was just a never-ending amount of balled up material. JUNK!!!!

Hi @madelyn, that's very disappointing to hear that the Life Comfort Tranquility Velvet Plush Throw Blanket was just a poor quality item. Its being ruined after only one wash is just unacceptable. I hope you were able to return it and get a full refund from Costco

I have two of these blankets now, and want 10 more. Love them. They came out of the wash just fine.

Hi @Sahara, that's great to hear that the Life Comfort Tranquility Velvet Plush Throw Blanket is working well for you. I'm glad that you're quite happy with it and want more.

Are these blankets still available. bought two for my apartment and my roommate is dying to have her own. I love them. Be sure to wash them before putting them out. if not the will sed all over anything you put them on.

Hi @Maggie, as mentioned in my post, I saw the Life Comfort Tranquility Velvet Plush Throw Blanket back in early July. I haven't seen them around since then, but that doesn't mean that it's not available at other Costco locations. A lot of times Costco sells certain (seasonal) items only for a few months such that sometimes you'd have to wait about a year before seeing it or something similar again at Costco.

I purchased this blanket for my sister and she said the same thing. When she washed it, it started shedding and when she dried it, it got worse. Im taking it back to the store. What a waste. She told me it was so comfy before she washed it. Now its garbage.

Hi @Anonymous, ya that's quite a bummer that the Life Comfort Tranquility Velvet Plush Throw Blanket fell apart in the wash. It's difficult to tell whether a given blanket will hold up well in the wash or not when buying it. It's definitely hit or miss.

This velvet plush throw washes beautifully. I don't know how the people who wrote that their blankets fell apart wash their clothes, etc., but I can't even imagine. Mine came out as soft as beautiful as it was when new. Love this product and would love to get a couple more - but our local Costco no longer has them.

Hello @Anonymous, yes it is rather strange that some people are having issues with washing the Life Comfort Tranquility Velvet Plush Throw Blanket. I guess the quality control for these blankets differ. That or people's washing machines are different as well. In either case, I'm glad to hear that your blankets held up in the wash.

I received one of these for Christmas and LOVE IT! It is SO soft and snuggly! It shed a little before washing it, so I washed it in cold water on gentle cycle and dried on low temperature, like the tag and packaging say, and it came out great. It doesn't shed any more and it feels just as soft as before. The color and pattern are cute, too.

Hi @Unknown, that's great to hear that the Life Comfort Tranquility Velvet Plush Throw Blanket is holding up well for you even after washing it. I guess the key is to follow the directions for washing exactly as indicated.

I bought 1 that I love (and washes wonderfully), so I purchased 3 more, and ALL 3 ball & pill every time they're washed! My husband noticed that the item numbers btwn the good one and the three bad ones are different and that the item numbers of the bad ones all match each other. So, Life Comfort item 739731 is the fabulous one and item 985870 is the one that balls and pills.

Hello @Nancy, no wonder some people seem to have issues washing the Life Comfort Tranquility Velvet Plush Throw Blanket whereas others don't. Thank you for noticing the discrepancy between the differing variations of the same blanket. It sounds like it makes a very big difference in the quality of the blanket.

Nancy said...

Oh no. Please bring back item 739731! It's no longer at Costco. Now there's a new Life Comfort series (item 744421). Does anyone have this new one? (Look at the back of the blanket's label.)

ExecMemberMike said...

Let's hope that the new Life Comfort throw blanket (item number 744421) is just as good as the original one which held up well in the wash. If I see that new one at my Costco, I'll definitely post it for all of you Costco Weekenders out there to take a look at.

My item number for the Costco Life Comfort Blanket is 1011923 which is totally different. I hate this blanket. I have washed it four times and there is fuzz everywhere. I shake them outside and there are balls all over. I bought it for our bunks in the RV and they are luxurious, soft and beautiful but anyone who touches them ends up with sheds all over their clothes.

ExecMemberMike said...

Hello @Vivian, it's not uncommon for Costco to have a different item number for the same exact product it sells. Whatever the item number is for the Life Comfort Tranquility Throw blanket at Costco, it sounds like the manufacturer really does need to do a better job improving the quality of their blankets.

I just washed mine and like many others above it's shedding out clumps of material, I guess I should expect no less from a cheap $15.00 blanket...

ExecMemberMike said...

Hi @Hali, thanks for sharing your experience with the Life Comfort Tranquility Throw blanket. What's weird is that I actually got one of those cheapo Snuggies (gag gift), and although those are super thin that you can literally see right through the blanket. Surprisingly enough it has held up well even after several washes, so I'm surprised about the (lack of) quality in the Life Comfort Tranquility Throw blanket.
