Universal Studios 50th Anniversary 2015 Season Pass

[Scroll down to view product info]

I’ve always loved going to theme parks and so does my family, but sometimes I feel too old for some of those thrill rides. For the most part, theme parks are for kids. One of my favorite theme parks though is Universal Studios in Hollywood. The kids love going on the rides, and as an adult, I can still have fun because Universal Studios is movie-themed. I absolutely love going to the movies which is why I enjoy the attractions at Universal Studios. That and some of the rides and attractions there remind me of the movies I saw when I was a kid, making me feel all nostalgic inside. Rides like Jurassic Park, King Kong (which was upgraded a few years ago), and Jaws rides make me feel like a kid again and the kids have fun on those rides as well. My absolute favorite though is the Universal Studios backlot tour where you can see old props and sets from some of your favorite movies (ie Back to the Future, Psycho, etc). You get a behind the scenes look at how movies are made and where the magic happens. If you’re like me where you enjoy the movies or just like going to amusement parks, then you can take advantage of the 2015 Universal Studios adult season pass at Costco. Costco is offering the 2015 season pass for only $79.99. It’s such a good deal at Costco that it’ll pay for itself after the first few visits and is a better value than buying single-day tickets. This is also certainly cheaper than if you got the season pass at the park. That’s not bad for a summer of fun at one of America’s best known theme parks where you can also enjoy the movies. You’ll enjoy going there and the kids will too. If you're already in the LA area, then you may even want to take a side trip to San Diego - Costco has the San Diego 3-for-1 pass that gets you admission to the San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld, and San Diego Safari Park.

The blackout dates printed on the pass itself are different than what is listed above. Which ones should we go by?

ExecMemberMike said...

Hi @Anonymous, thank you for letting us know about the difference in dates. I accidentally left out some of the days, so sorry for the typo and the confusion it may have caused. The dates listed above should now reflect what is on the pass. If it still doesn't, then definitely go with what's on the pass since that's official.

Unknown said...

To be clear the blackout dates don't apply to the first visit only, just to subsequent visits. Right?

ExecMemberMike said...

Hi @Kesinee, yes that's correct. The blackout dates only apply after the first visit. That is what is printed and indicated in the Universal Studios season pass card at Costco. You can see the actual wording in the second picture if you look closely. Hope you have fun at Universal Studios!

How do I pre register pass I bought at costco

ExecMemberMike said...

Hi @Francisco, I'm not sure what you mean by preregistering. If you did buy the 2015 Universal Studios Season Pass at Costco, you would take it to Universal Studios Hollywood and have it processed there. I hope this answers your question.

Unknown said...

Really disappointing. I was planning on going July 26 and 27 but I cannot because of a black out day? So there is no point in me buying my tickets from Costco. Very sadden because I was excited to do two days on my visit

ExecMemberMike said...

Hi @Rachel, yes I agree that the Universal Studios season pass comes with a ton of blackout dates that it's quite inconvenient figuring out when to go...like almost all of July is blacked out and that's a prime month to go too. The season pass is definitely only worth it if you have flexibility in your schedule. I hope you're still able to go this summer though.

Hi,
I purchased 4 season passes and used them in May. We want to go back next week but I have misplaced my actual tickets. What can I do since they are registered with our names so we can use them again?

ExecMemberMike said...

Hi @Anonymous, that's unfortunate that you misplaced your Universal Studios season passes. Your best bet is to call Universal Studios because surely they have a ticket or season pass office that you can talk to. They should have your records on file. I hope they can help you or that your season passes turn up between now and next week. Good luck!

Cost of parking ticket?

ExecMemberMike said...

Hi @rollym196811, as of today the cheapest single day ticket to Universal Studios Hollywood is $85. The cheapest parking costs $17. I hope this helps!

Anonymous said...

So if me and my family went on july 24 as a first visit then if we wanted to go the next day we wouldnt be able to becoz its a blackout day

ExecMemberMike said...

Hello @Anonymous, yes you're correct. According to the fine print for the Universal Studios season pass, you'll be able to go on July 24th as your first visit, but not for July 25th as a subsequent visit.

Anonymous said...

why did they get rid of the two day pass ? last year we were going to do that but did disneyland instead. This year i went to buy it and it has been replaced with the season pass. Can i not buy the 2 day pass any more???

ExecMemberMike said...

Hello @Anonymous, I haven't seen the 2 day pass to Universal Studios in Costco this year, so I'm not sure if Costco stopped selling them or if it's just not available in certain Costco locations. You could still get a 2 day pass by buying it from the main Universal Studios website, but it's probably not going to be as cheap as Costco (assuming Costco still has it).

Anonymous said...

Hi,

I lost my Universal passes bought from Costco. I registered the passes with names in Universal Studios site. Can i cancel the purchased items from Costco without pass by telling the pass numbers?

ExecMemberMike said...

Hi @Anonymous, I don't really know if you could cancel your already purchased Universal Studios season passes, but I wouldn't hold my breath. You may want to talk to someone in the season pass or ticket office to make sure though. Sorry if I couldn't give you a better answer, but I hope this helps.

Anonymous said...

if i buy a season pass, i go direct to universal studios, or i have to pre-register the tickets on costco web site , because on ticket says "all passes must be pre registered at ushtix.com/costco"

ExecMemberMike said...

Hi @Anonymous, I didn't know that you had to pre-register since it was never indicated on the Universal Studios Season Pass placard at Costco, so I'm not quite sure. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to just follow the directions/prompts and pre-register anyway. That way you can show up at the park totally prepared and then have the season pass processed at the park.

What about if i purchace a season pass n was here in LA for only a week. Can i give to someone else to use it again til it expires? I also bought 5 season passes at costco n went on july 4th and they told me we weren't able to use it. It was our first time going i don't understand y couldn't we use our first visit on july 4th. It says on the pass we can use it for ANY DAY ON FIRST VISIT

ExecMemberMike said...

Hi @Jane, I believe the Universal Studios Hollywood season passes are non-transferable, but it's actually quite upsetting to me that you weren't able to use them on July 4th since it clearly says on the Costco placard and Costco price tag that there are no blackout dates on the first date. I'm not sure whether you should talk to someone from Universal Studios or Costco in regards to this. I wonder if you could even request your money back from Costco since Universal Studios didn't even honor what was advertised for the season pass at Costco.

Anonymous said...

Would I be able to go on July 19th for a first visit even though it's a black out date?

ExecMemberMike said...

Hello @Anonymous, yes you should be able to use the season pass on July 19th as your first visit according to what is printed on the Universal Studios 50th Anniversary 2015 Season Pass card at Costco (picture 2).

jsanchez1684 said...

If i buy a season pass at any time can i upgrade to a no blackouts date pass?

jsanchez1684 said...

Also the front of the line passes can i purchase those every time i visit the park?

ExecMemberMike said...

Hi @jsanchez1684. I'm not sure if you can upgrade your Universal Studios Hollywood season pass to one that has no blackout dates, but you may want to talk to someone who works at the ticket office there to see if you can do that. Looking at the Universal Studios Hollywood website, I believe you can buy a front of the line single day park admission ticket for $189 every time you visit the park. This already includes admission only for that day, so if you're buying this particular ticket, you don't even need a season pass. I hope this helps!

Anonymous said...

Does anyone know whether you can upgrade your Costco universal ticket for "front of the line" access on the first visit? And if so, what the cost would be? thanks

Do different Costcos sell different versions of this? Was at the South San Francisco (El Camino Real) Costo a few days ago and they sell the season pass for $84.99 (valid thru Feb 11, 2016 only). Item #619644. Or is the $79.99 pass not available at all Costcos anymore?

ExecMemberMike said...

Hi @Anonymous, I actually haven't noticed if there are different variations of the Universal Studios Hollywood season pass at Costco. But now that you mentioned it, I'll have to see for myself - it'll definitely be interesting to see though. Maybe Costco phased out the $79.99 already and only have the $84.99 available now. Ya, I'm just not sure how it works.

Follow one on your pass you get from them they told me there plus it's in there site under membership

Gemiini96 said...

I can't seem to find this at my local Costco, is this a Northern Cal thing only?

ExecMemberMike said...

Hi @Gemiini96, I'm not sure if this Universal Studios 50th Anniversary Season Pass is only for Northern California, but I do remember seeing the Universal Studios Season Pass at the Costco in Alhambra down in Southern California back in May. Now I don't remember if that one in Alhambra had the same exact item number, price, blackout dates, and other fine print as this one that I posted. As mentioned in one of the comments above, one person did see a different version of the Universal Studios season pass that had different price and item number at another Costco. You may want to try going to another Costco nearby for the Universal Studios Hollywood season pass or at least a variation of it.

Unknown said...

I bought a passes from costco but my parents doesnt have their id with them. Will it be the problem??

ExecMemberMike said...

Hello @Umesh, I'm not sure if you need an id to process your Universal Studios Hollywood season pass since it's never indicated anywhere that you need one. After all, most kids who would buy this same pass wouldn't have an id anyway. I would think though that having an id would make things easier. Perhaps your parents have another form of identification like a passport? You could also call them at 1-800-UNIVERSAL for a definite answer. I hope this helps and good luck!

Which Costco store can I purchase the tickets at the $79 dollar price I want to take my son for his Bday September and will they still be good until March 2016?

anikakindred said...

What Costco store sells these tickets I'm in Fresno CA and they say they don't have them thanks!

ExecMemberMike said...

Hello @anikakindred, I saw the 2015 Universal Studios Hollywood season pass at the Costco in Foster City, CA. In one of the comments above, someone mentioned they saw a variation of the season pass (different item no., different price, different expiration) at the Costco in South San Francisco, and I do recall also seeing a version of the Universal Studios season pass in Alhambra,CA. So it seems as if there are enough Costcos in California that has some version of the Universal Studios season pass. It should be common enough to find at a nearby Costco in the Fresno area. Yes, the Universal Studios season pass that I saw at Costco expires in March 2016, but be sure to read the fine print for blackout dates and expiration dates of the version of the season pass that you happen to find at your Costco. It may be different than the one that I saw. I hope you're able to find it at Costco and that your son has a fun and wonderful birthday at Universal Studios Hollywood!

can I only go to universal hollywood or can I go to both parks (hollywood and orlando)

ExecMemberMike said...

Hello @Anonymous, I don't think this Universal Studios season pass includes admission to the Universal Studios in Orlando, FL since it's never indicated. I believe it's only for the Universal Studios in Hollywood, CA.

Unknown said...

Hello, if I buy the pass today will it expire on March or a year from today... The reason I ask that is because three years ago I bought some passes and they expired a year from the first day I used them...

ExecMemberMike said...

Hi @Zayra, according to the Universal Studios 50th Anniversary Season Pass placard at Costco, it says that it expires March 2016. It would be cool though if it expired a year from the first day it was used. Maybe you just happened to have a different version of the season pass a few years ago that expired within one year of its first use.

Alex said...

Ok I had a question. My brother bought to season passes for him and his gf. He bought them at the park. They didn't take his finger print or his picture when he got them. I wanted to know if I can use them and take my gf. They do have his name on it that's about it. Thank you.

ExecMemberMike said...

Hi @Unknown, I believe the Universal Studios season pass is non-transferable, so using your brother's season pass will probably violate the terms and conditions. I'm not sure if they require identification when using the season pass for entry.

Unknown said...

Does expires a year from the date you use the pass or on March 2016???

ExecMemberMike said...

Hi @Patty, I believe this Universal Studios Hollywood 2015 Season Pass expires March 18, 2016.

Unknown said...

Hi, I bought my ticket at Costco, and my first visit on May 30, 2015. I want to go back for my second visit on November 8, 2015. Is my ticket still work? 3 years ago my second visit expired after my first visit 3 months. I wanna make sure. Thanks.

ExecMemberMike said...

Hi @Unknown, the Universal Studios season pass that I saw in Costco expires on March 18, 2016. That and November 8 doesn't appear to be a blackout date. The Universal Studios season pass you bought 3 years ago may have had different terms and conditions, so make sure the pass that you bought for this year has the same terms and conditions as the one that I saw at Costco. That being said, it's possible that you bought a variation of the Universal Studios season pass that has terms and conditions that differ from the one that I saw.

Unknown said...

Thanks #Mike. The one that I bought said expired on March 18, 2016

Unknown said...

What are the current blackout dates for the new passes being sold?

ExecMemberMike said...

Hi @Merary, if you're referring to the 2016 Universal Studios Season Pass, I'm not sure what the blackout dates are since I haven't seen it at Costco yet. If/when I do see the 2016 season pass at Costco, I'll be sure to post it and indicate the blackout dates there.

ExecMemberMike said...

Hello @Merary, I just posted the 2016 Universal Studios Hollywood Season pass here which has the blackout dates listed.

Vaness said...

Just to clarify, if I purchased my season pass at Costco can I go three consecutive days as long as it's not a black out period? Or is there a first day use and then a break?

ExecMemberMike said...

Hello @Unknown, yes you should be able to use the Universal Studios season pass on three straight days so long as they're not blackout days. Be mindful though of the fine print for your particular season pass since the terms and conditions may differ than the one that I saw at Costco. Also, I saw the 2016 Universal Studios season pass which you can see here.
