And getting out your smartphone to record incidents is not just dangerous while you’re driving but also an inconvenience. With the HP F310 Car Dash Cam, you can do just that. There are a lot of solutions out there like installing a GoPro camera or some other digital cameras but the HP F310 Car Dash Cam is really built for the car. It comes with a 2.4” display so you know exactly what your camera is pointed at. Unlike other cameras, this one comes with a GPS chip to record your vehicle position, direction, and speed. It can continually record HD 1080p video to the included 16 GB microSD card but thanks to the G-Sensor, it can detect if you’re braking hard, as in an accident, and could trigger recording right then and there. This is definitely a feature that the GoPro cameras don't have. As an alternative though, there's also the Cobra CDR 840 dash cam which is a bit cheaper.

The HP F310 Dash Cam provides more than just a video record of your drive; it offers a range of features to keep you safe on the road. The camera uses a 1/3" color CMOS image sensor with a 2.95mm f/1.9 lens with a 130° field of view to capture every second of your drive in full 1080p. Files are saved to a MicroSD slot, and cards up to 32GB are supported. A 2.4" display lets you view and playback saved files, plus it can show the current speed, travel direction, and a distance warning to the next known speed camera. Out of the box, the default setting is for automatic recording mode to capture everything, with loop recording when the card gets full. Other recording modes let you tailor what gets captured based on your needs. Emergency mode gives you the power to instantly start recording. The event is captured as one continuous file and ends when it is manually stopped or the card is full. Incident mode starts recording when hard braking or an accident is detected. Both Emergency and Incident files are automatically overwrite protected to preserve them. Beyond recording the drive, the unit comes with a GPS receiver that logs the vehicle position, direction, and speed. A three-axis G-Sensor tracks hard braking and other rapid or drastic changes. It logs the information and is used to detect when to start an Incident recording. When the camera is synched with the included SuperCar software on your computer, it will display the video file with a Google map of the drive, and display the speed and G-Sensor simultaneously. Multiple systems aid in driver safety including Fatigue Alert, Speed Limit Alarm, and the ability to program the locations of speed cameras and warn you when you're approaching them.
