When people think of skiing or snowboarding in Lake Tahoe, they think of Squaw, Heavenly, or Northstar. Those resorts tend to be expensive and quite crowded during peak season, so sometimes it's better to just go to a place less crowded like Homewood Mountain Resort. Located literally across the street from the lake's west shore along highway 89, Homewood is a quaint resort that not many people know about. I've snowboarded there several times and am quite surprised by how nice some of the trails are.
