I have the Corsican 50 Rain Barrel, not because I live near Corsicana, TX but because I liked the idea or water conservation and this specific design. This product is fantastic, but it has a problem. Over the time it develops Algae. The hole in the top is not big enough to get your and, brush or other things to scrub the barrel. I had to cut a big hole on the top, and spend close to an hour scrubbing it.
Thanks for your feedback on the Good Ideas Impressions Corsican 50 Rain Barrel, @Anonymous. I think the reason why the opening is so small is to limit the amount of light entering the barrel. Algae needs light to grow. In your case the small opening isn't doing a very good job of preventing algae from growing inside the barrel. I'm not too sure though if the algae is necessarily bad for watering plants since I'm assuming you're not using the collected rain water as drinking water.
