Thanks @E_Edward for sharing your experience with the CAT CJ1000CP Professioinal Power Station with Jump Starter and Compressor. I would've expected better quality from a brand name like Caterpillar, but it's a good thing Costco has a good return policy in cases like this.

Yes. My dad has been through 5 of these and it's a headache. They are terrible and was also purchased at Costco. We work in the car biz and need to jump cars all the time. This is a terrible jumper.

Hi @Alexandria, thank you for your feedback in regards to the CAT CJ1000CP Professional Power Station with Jump Starter and Compressor. I'm surprised your dad went through 5 of these. I guess the CAT CJ1000CP Professional Power Station just isn't a very good product.

Interesting that people here are having problems. Amazon has comment on them and the manual says to charge for 40 hours before using and the reviews that did that say they are having great experiences with this jump starter.

It's hard to say why people are having issues with the CAT CJ1000CP Professional Power Station with Jump Starter and Compressor, @Tiger_Body_Electric_Vehicles. If the manual does indeed say to charge for 40 hours, then it's definitely worth doing first to see if it works properly or not. If not, then it's obviously something else.

Just brought back a Cat 1000 unit. The air compressor on the unit was stuck. Impossible to close it. When I disposed the thing on the Costco counter people where laughing, to ear the compressor always running. You can imagine having to drive to Costco with the sound of the compressor running in the trunk of the car? Very annoying! It looked sturdy but I am affraid it's far from beeing a thing you can rely on.

I've had this jumper since 2016 and charge it as instructed 1x every 30 days -- gave it the 40 hour charge upon purchase also. Never had any problems and has gotten me out of ~5 jams at this point.

I have two model CJ1000CP and one newer CJ1000DCP and have not had any issues. I love the digital air gauge on the newer version. Set the pressure and it turns off automatically, no longer worry about overinflating. I plan on buying more. Charge fully before first use and then once every couple months. You can't just charge it and expect it to work a year later. Take care of your equipment and it will be there when you need it most.

Why does my Jump Starter beep when I hook up the unit to any kind of load?

Is there a master on-off button? Mine is fully charged and won't come on to use the USB or LED. I'm thinking that mine, too, bought earlier this week, is also useless.

My backlight display won't turn off once I unplug the recharge cord from the unit. The display backlight turns off while I am charging the unit but as soon as I unplug the recharge cord, the display backlight comes on and stays on. This causes the battery charge level / voltage level to drop quicker than it should normally. Maybe I have a defective unit. The one I purchased before and gave to my son did not have this problem. Curious if anyone else has this issue.
