Feit Electric LED Dimmer Switch (2 pack)

[Scroll down to view product info]

Why go with just a normal on/off switch for your lights? If you have dimmable LEDs like what I have above my dining room, then consider the Feit Electric LED Dimmer Switch from Costco. The 2 pack can either be a single dimmer or 3-way. Not every light in your home may be dimmable but there are some rooms, I'm sure, that would benefit from being able to dim the lights. Maybe in a kid's room where they need just a bit of light in order to sleep comfortably at night. Whatever the case may be, it will be easy to adjust the level of brightness in a room with the Feit Electric LED Dimmer Switch.

These dimmers do NOT work well with LEDs. Dimming is limited before the bulbs strobe. This dimmer lacks a trimmer function that better quality dimmers have

Hello @Unknown, thank you for sharing your thoughts on the Feit Electric LED Dimmer Switch. Hopefully, the manufacturer can improve the quality and features of subsequent dimmer models.

Dimmers DO NOT work correctly with LED. At appox. 25% the LED bulbs strobe and thus dimmer is useless.

ExecMemberMike said...

Hello @FRB, thanks for your review for the Feit Electric LED Dimmer Switch. That's just unacceptable that it can't even dim properly. That seems to be a problem with these dimmer switches which the manufacturer needs to address.

I echo prior witers. Despite said to be "ideal for LED lighting", this switch is no better than the conventional incandescent dimmer I previously had. I replaced that with a Leviton LED dimmer which worked perfectly (model IPL06-10Z) but bought these because I wanted it to match my other Lutron switches. I just reinstalled the Leviton because I couldn't stand the flickering.

Hello @Anonymous, thanks for sharing your experience with the Feit Electric LED Dimmer Switch. It's a good thing Costco has a pretty good return policy when it comes to purchased products that you're not completely satisfied with. You shouldn't have any problem returning it for a full refund.

B&J said...

Agreed, these suck. I bought enough to do my entire house. All are going back to Costco.

ExecMemberMike said...

Hi B&J, ya you shouldn't have an issue returning all of the Feit Electric LED Dimmer Switches from Costco for a full refund. That's what's great about Costco. Their return policy is pretty good when it comes to products that you're not completely satisfied with.

The LED bulbs hum when dimmed. I purchased the bulbs at Costco to use with these dimmers I purchased at the same time. I will probably be taking both dimmers back along with the bulbs that have been connected to these dimmers fit the last few months. Paid too much for the bulbs to risk their life being reduced by using with these dimmers.

Hello @Matthew, that's probably a good idea to not let expensive light bulbs go to waste by using them with Feit LED Dimmer Switches. You shouldn't have any problem getting a full refund from Costco.

Garbage. Going back.

Hello @Unknown, thanks for sharing your opinion with the Feit LED Dimmer Switches. It's unfortunate to hear that they didn't perform the way it was expected.

Bought a 2-pack as my first foray into dimmable led lights. Also bought the 6-pack Dimmable LED 60 watt lamps from FEIT at Costco which I thought should work together. no such luck Massive flickering.

Went to FEIT Electric's website and they don't know this dimmer (72302) so cannot find out what the minimum load requirements are.

The dimmer worked with GE dimmable 60 watt lamps, but the dimming range was abysmal from very bright to a little less very bright. Tried a 3rd no-name dimmable LED lamp and same adjustment range.

Hi @Anonymous, thanks for sharing your experience trying to get the Feit LED Dimmer Switch to work. That's quite disappointing that it just didn't work out for you. I would consider just returning it back to Costco.

This switch almost burned my house down. Resulted in a fire truck and a bunch of firemen about ready to hack into my walls. We later discovered the switch burned out and caused all the smoke the led to the electrical fire panic.

ExecMemberMike said...

Hello @Unknown, that's just awful that the Feit LED Dimmer Switch almost burned your house to the ground! It's a good thing that wasn't the case. I wonder if that is something you can take the manufacturer to court over since there may be some legal ramifications involved.

So far so good. Installed the dimmers in rooms where I put the flush mount LED lights I also got at Costco a year or so ago. They are 21.5W each and brighter than the dickens. Thought I'd take the edge off them a little. The low setting could be a little lower but works for me. If I wanted them any lower I'd probably just turn them off anyway. Each install was with a single dimmer and 4 (86 watts) flush mount LED lights. No flicker, no hum, no firetrucks. I have to go back and buy 3 more packs to do the hallways. Each has 6, 21.5 watt LED bulbs and need 3 way dimmers.

Hi @DStocker, I'm glad to hear that you had no issues installing several Feit LED Dimmer Switches in your home and that they seem to be working fine. I wish more people had the same experience with these dimmers as you.

Not happy said...

I agree with everyone. Paired these dimmers to LED fixtures also from Costco and they do not get along. The lights do not respond in the low setting. They only turn on at the midway point. Occasionally, when they do respond in the low setting, they flicker

Thanks @Unknown for your feedback with the 2 pack of Feit Electric LED Dimmer Switches. I guess these dimmer switches are a good idea on paper, but the execution of these leave much to be desired.

Hi @Chris, thanks for sharing your positive experience with these Feit Electric LED Dimmer Switches. I'm glad that you've had no issues installing over 30 of them. You must be quite handy around the house because those are some pretty good odds compared to what others have been experiencing with these dimmers.

I purchased these on a whim. The older analog dimmers have worked in my house (I had to switch one bulb, for compatibility). I installed one of these in a bedroom with three 65 W chandelier bulbs (from who knows where) and it worked... but NO BETTER than the old analog... and it was BIGGER, making it tough for me to install.
Bottom line; okay, but meh.

ExecMemberMike said...

Hello @tooslow, thank you for your feedback on this item. Ya assuming the Feit Electric LED Dimmer Switches work, I wouldn't expect it to be a huge upgrade from other dimmer switches. I think for the most part so long as it works, it'll be fine for most people and their homes.

I bought Feit LED bulbs to replace a variety of lights. Bright white in kitchen and soft white for hall using B20 floods. But my hanging fixtures do not like these bulbs or the Feet Dimmers I just installed. Do not work at all and I really dislike the slider on the bottom. Plus they don't match my other light switches. Back to Costco and now will have to buy Lutrons.

ExecMemberMike said...

Hello @Mary, sorry to hear that the Feit Electric LED Dimmer Switches didn't work out for you. I guess the switches and bulbs just aren't for every house. Definitely return them and go with whatever works. Hopefully the Lutrons will be the right fit for your home.

After 13 months, all four I installed began to crack around the switch where the switch button anchors into the trim.

ExecMemberMike said...

Hi @HTMLSpinnr, I guess the quality of the Feit Electric LED Dimmer Switches is just so poor for all four of yours to start to crack after only a year. It truly is disappointing for it to start falling apart in such a short amount of time.

Are any of you electricians?? I've literally installed a ton of these for various customers, in my own home, and on numerous brands of LED lamps/retro-fits, with a relatively high rate of success...yeah you get the occasional call that one is not working right, but this can happen with any of the stuff you'll get from HD or your local supplier. It is probably because of all this whining that I can no longer get these at my local COSTCO...If you want an amazing outcome prepare to cough up some coin, not spend the bare minimum then complain, and if you are not a qualified electrician I'd recommend calling one to ensure it gets done right. :)

Hints: Don't overload, and don't install on both ends of a 3-way (this will always cause flickering) Put a basic 3-way on one end. It is also possible that over tightening of the 6-32 screws at installation (depending on the sheetrock conditions) could cause the device casing to crack prematurely. Remember that there is still no industry standard for LED lamp vs. dimmer compatibility, although various charts are available from manufacturers...listing, for example what brand/model of dimmer has been tested with their lamp/retro-fit.

You DIYers LOL

Flickering at most mid level settings.....will return asap.

ExecMemberMike said...

Hello @Unknown, ya definitely return your Feit Electric LED Dimmer Switch if it makes the lights flicker. You definitely don't want a seizure.

Unknown said...

Don't buy it!! As like many comments on here and on Costco's website, my Feit LED dimmer rocker switch broke only after a few days of used. The switch look nice but it's worthless if you can't use it.

TomofEC said...

Those that claim these dimmers don't work well are telling the truth. Also. if you're not careful when turning lights on and/or off, the toggling lever uncouples and the rocker switch plate doesn't control the lights. It's loose/unattached. Returned.
Pulse Width Modulation is the only dimming circuitry that works really well.
