If you're looking for something to do in the summer that your kids would also enjoy, then why don't you spend the day at California's Great America. Costco is selling a 2016 gold season pass to Great America in Santa Clara, CA. That way you and your family can spend the day riding some thrill rides and roller coasters like Gold Striker, Flight Deck, Drop Tower, Rip Roaring Rapids, Demon, and Vortex. This adult season pass includes free parking for every visit and admission to Halloween Haunt, Gilroy Gardens, Boomerang Bay, and Great America's Winterfest. In about two visits, this season pass pays for itself. Not only that, but you can save an additional 20% on park food. This definitely adds up for a family of 4 when the kids start getting hungry and need lunch or something to snack on. Any parent will know that this adds up very quickly. So it'll be a good idea to take advantage of the 2016 Great America season pass if you want to have a lot of summer fun while saving a ton of money. Act now because this offer expires in July.

What about for kids?

ExecMemberMike said...

Hello @Maha, this 2016 Great America season pass from Costco is only for adults (ages 3+, 48" taller). Costco doesn't offer a comparable season pass for juniors (ages 3+, under 48 inches tall) while Kids under the age of 3 are free. I hope this helps.

Is parking included at Gilroy Gardens as well or do you have to pay the $14 fee to park there with this pass?

ExecMemberMike said...

Hello @C.Lucero, I believe the 2016 Great America Gold Season pass from Costco does not give you free parking to Gilroy Gardens. It only gives you parking at Great America.

Where did you find this? I looked on their website where they would generally offer this and it wasn't online.

Hi @Unknown, as mentioned in my post, I spotted the 2016 Great America Gold Season pass at the Costco in South San Francisco, CA (near the airport), but you should be able to find this same exact pass at other Bay Area Costco locations as well. It's normally found in the gift card section. I hope this helps!

Hi,

Is this pass per person? or Family of two?

Thanks

ExecMemberMike said...

Hello @Anonymous, the 2016 Great America Gold Season Pass from Costco is only one per person. You would need to buy two of these for a family of two. I hope this helps.

Do you know how easy it is to redeem it? What is the process like at the park to transfer what I get from Costco into the gold pass?
Thanks!

Hello @Erin, I think you just have to take whatever ticket voucher you get when you buy the 2016 Great America gold season pass from Costco to the front gate of the park to gain entry for your first admission. Then, you go to the season pass office to process your season pass (ie taking your picture and obtaining the physical season pass card). I think this office is located near the Vortex roller coaster. Please keep in mind that you have to do this step in Great America and not in Gilroy Gardens. Also, the season pass office could very well have a long line on the first few weekends of summer and especially the long Memorial Day weekend, so plan ahead and try to get there as early as possible. I hope this helps!

Do you know if you can renew a pass with this ticket?

ExecMemberMike said...

Hello @Ali, I don't think you can use the Great America Gold Season Pass from Costco to renew an existing pass. Nothing indicates that you could do this on the placard, but I may be wrong. You may want call Great America's customer service or ticket office just to make sure.

I have misplaced the ticket voucher that I got from Costco. How can I go about in getting a new one? I still have my original Costco receipt showing that I bought it.

thanks!

Hello @Anonymous, sorry to hear that you lost your 2016 Great America Gold Season Pass from Costco. I would try to talk to Costco's customer service. Hopefully, they can help you out, but don't hold your breadth. I wouldn't be surprised if you were out of luck since what prevents someone from pretending to lose their voucher just to try to getting another one without having to pay for it? I'm sure there are some people who would try to cheat the system. Anyway, I hope you end up finding your voucher. Good luck!

Does anyone know when costco may get the 2017 season gold pass

ExecMemberMike said...

Hello @Renee, Costco should get the 2017 Great America Gold Season Pass sometime in January or February. The 2016 season hasn't ended yet, but just keep an eye out for the 2017 gold pass at Costco and you'll see it soon enough. If I see the 2017 Great America Gold Pass, I'll be sure to post it and put a link to it on this page.

I don't think so I read they will charge for parking.

ExecMemberMike said...

Yes, you're correct @Anonymous, parking at Gilroy Gardens is not included in the Great America 2016 gold season pass.
