I bought a colander similar to the Sabatier Expandable Colander at Costco in the past. I liked the concept but the one I bought was just too bulky for my sink and countertop, even with the arms folded in all the way. But the Sabatier Expandable Colander seems a bit more compact but still does its job when it comes to holding fruits and vegetables over the sink while you wash them. I would buy it for cooked pasta and for that it does a good job. No need to use a plate underneath a standard colander to catch the water dripping from the cooked pasta. I would just have the Sabatier Expandable Colander over one side of my kitchen sink while keeping the other side free for when I need to wash something else. In my kitchen, space is a premium so the Sabatier Expandable Colander is a good tool to have.
