Viva Self Cleaning Water Cooler

I know everyone likes having fresh bottled water to drink readily available if you don't already have one of those Brita pitchers. What makes the Viva Self Cleaning Water Cooler so special is that not only does it have proper temperature control for both cold and hot (for tea or hot cocoa) water, but it also has a self cleaning feature. The self cleaning feature is automatic which is great because these type of bottled water dispensers needs to be cleaned on a regular basis, but it often gets overlooked. The automatic self cleaning makes drinking water healthier for you and your family. Unlike most other water dispensers, the Viva Self Cleaning Water Cooler also hides the big unsightly bottle (3 or 5 gallon) from plain view. Sometimes you just don't want the bottle to be seen and you want a more refined and elegant look in your kitchen. Well, the Viva Self Cleaning Water Cooler takes care of that problem and gives you the water that you need to quench your thirst.

All of these square and Viva water coolers are made incorrectly, not allowing enough depth to fit anything wider than an ultra-narrow tube beneath the spigot to fill. The spigots are not visible, so you have no idea if you're lined up. The water misses and pours into the catch receptacle or floor, which has to be emptied every day or you will have mold and bacteria. Really bad design. The recess should have been made with 8-10' depth and the spigots should be visible so you can align it with your container! Amateur design compared to simple previous bottle dispensers. Yes, you will have chilled or hot water...all over you floor and in the catch basin (which you wouldn't need if it were designed correctly).

Hello @Dhaval, thanks for sharing your thoughts on the Viva Self Cleaning Water Cooler. I'm glad that it's totally working out for you in the past three years and hopefully more!

This unit cools the water well and heats it too but is almost constantly running even when not being used and I know this because it's loud! Plus it puts off more heat than my refrigerator. On my second one, thinking there was something defective with the first and will be returning this one.

Hello @Unknown, it might be normal for the Viva Self Cleaning Water Cooler to be constantly running since it provides a fresh supply of hot and cold water at all times. Although if it's too loud and too warm, then I can totally see why you would want to return it.

I bought this product from costco and the cold water stop working. The cooling system issue ( plastic burning smell). What is the warranty on this?

ExecMemberMike said...

Hi @alex, I'm not sure what the manufacturer's warranty is for the Viva Self Cleaning Water Cooler, but you should be able to return it for a full refund at Costco. Costco has a pretty good return policy when it comes to purchased items that you're not entirely satisfied with.

My wife is at Costco right meow and I said I would research before she buys it... so... if its always running (and heating) I guess it's not that economical to run? I understand that it's filtwering which is good.But... Is there a way to NOT heat the water constantly? I see no use (for us anyways) to have war,m/hot water coming out of our refreshing water cooler. (we have a kettle to use for a few short minutes to boil water for tea)

Hello @Unknown, I'm not sure if there's a way to disable the water heater on the Viva Self Cleaning Water Cooler. I'm thinking that you can't, but it'd be great if you could though. For you and your wife, maybe it's better to buy just a water cooler that doesn't dispense hot water and only dispenses room temperature and cold water.

Cold water stopped working, what's the warranty like door this? It's already a year old.

ExecMemberMike said...

Hi @Adrian, being that your Viva Self Cleaning Water Cooler is already a year old, it's probably already past the manufacturer's warranty which is usually 30 days or if you're lucky 90 days. You may be able to return it at Costco though. I would take a look at Costco's return policy and read the fine print just to make sure that items like the Viva Self Cleaning Water Cooler can still be returned whether you have the original receipt or not. Good luck!

The cold water is no longer cooling! Can it be repaired?

ExecMemberMike said...

Hello @Anonymous, I'm not sure if your Viva Self Cleaning Bottom Loading Water Cooler can be repaired since I'm no expert. I would see first if the manufacturer can fix the issue. If not, Costco usually has a pretty good return policy when it comes to defective items or products that you're not completely satisfied with that were purchased from them.

I have the Viva self cleaning water dispenser for years now and it worked so well until few weeks ago when I noticed it was leaking I got his item for Costco who should I contact? Thank you.

ExecMemberMike said...

Hi @Anonymous, you could probably contact the manufacturer if your Viva water dispenser is leaking, but it may already be out of warrantee though. If they can't or won't help you, try returning it at Costco. In general Costco has a good return policy when it comes to items that you're not completely satisfied with. They should be able to help.
