Sunforce 100 LED Solar Motion Security Light

[Scroll down to view product info]

I have seen the 80-LED version of this product last year at Costco. But why get 80 LEDs when you can get 100! I have installed a traditional motion detector security light before but connecting it to power and running the cable neatly was a pain. With the Sunforce 100 LED Solar Motion Security Light, you get the brightness of SMD LEDs and the convenience of solar so the only wire that you see is a short cable between the solar panel and the light. If security is what you’re concerned with, rest-assured that it comes with a built-in motion detector to enable the light with 180-degree range detection. Ideal for security, lighting dark areas, easy installation and no wiring required. You may even want to check out the Reflection International 7 foot LED Solar Lamp Post which is also solar powered.

The light works in daylight but not after dark--probably just an adjustment required, can someone advise me please ?

Hi @Anonymous, assuming that your Sunforce 100 LED Solar Motion Security Light isn't defective, maybe it hasn't been getting enough light during the day. Perhaps it's located in a place that doesn't get direct sunlight. That or maybe the cloudy weather prevented the light from getting enough sun. These are just ideas, but I hope you're able to figure what's wrong with it.

Purchased from Costco on 8/17/15. Worked OK until 11/20/15. Tried various adjustments but is not turning on at night despite movement directly in front of the unit. Going to try to return to Costco if they will take back. BEWARE!!!!!

Hi @Unknown, it sounds like the Sunforce 100 LED Solar Motion Security Light you got was a lemon. Ya, Costco should be able to give you a full refund since they have a pretty good return policy when it comes to defective units.

I bought mine in the spring of 2015 and worked great all summer but as soon as temperatures dropped to single digits, the light stopped working. Removed the batteries and tested with regular alkaline batteries and the unit works again. Looks like the batteries were not designed for the cold winter of the north. Not impressed!! Specially since I bought this in Fargo, ND where temperatures regularly hover in the single digits or below zero. Since it takes 5 batteries, you have to buy two packs of AA for the same cost of the light. Its frustrating and not cost effective to be replacing batteries every year or purchase new units and throw away the old lights. Sunforce needs to step up their game.

Hi @Anonymous, thank you for sharing your thoughts on the Sunforce 100 LED Solar Motion Security Light. I would never have thought that the type of batteries and/or the temperature would make a whole lof of difference in how it operated.

There are 3 main functions - on, off and auto. Auto works with the sensor but looks like the on function is useless. I would expect that option to trigger the lights according to the light sensitive (only after dusk) but instead, the on option disregards any sensor option and the light stays on at daylight! What's the point?

Hello @Alex, that's quite disappointing to hear that your Sunforce 100 LED Solar Motion Security Light is behaving that way. I hope you're able to return it to get a full refund or exchange it for another. Ya, you're right...what's the point of the light when it's on during daytime?

We bought this to supplement our off grid lighting and bought two and about 3 months later bought two more. They seemed to be working well, but about the six month mark the two bought later failed to recharge. Upon inspection, i could see damage to the solar collection panels and finally pulled the panels apart to see that they were water damaged and unreparable because they were printed on cardboard that disintegrated. Currently none work after 18 months. All 4 have water damage from normal non freezing weather. If there were inexpensive replacenent panels I would puchase them

Hello @bnoon, thanks for telling us your experience with the Sunforce 100 LED Solar Motion Security Light. It looks like the manufacturer really needs to improve the quality of the product to make it more resistant to water and moisture. Ya, it would definitely be great if they did sell replacement panels, so that you don't have to buy a whole new light altogether.
