Arcan 2.5 Ton Hybrid Floor Jack HJ2500

I own an earlier version of the Arcan 2.5 Ton Hybrid Floor Jack HJ2500. Any home garage or shop would benefit from such a useful tool. When working underneath a car, it is handy to have the Arcan 2.5 Ton Floor Jack to quickly do the heavy lifting. No more having to get the jack out of the trunk of your car, assembling it, and turning the crank countless times just to change a tire or to get underneath your car for an oil change. I have taken my jack up to snow country when I knew that slapping chains on in the middle of the road would be required. The jack came in handy; was able to lift the car, put the chains on, and I was on my way in no time at all. The HJ2500 has a 2.5-ton capacity, plenty for most garages. Some of these types of jacks can get somewhat heavy so it’s nice that the Arcan 2.5 Ton Floor Jack comes with side handles. Older versions don’t have that. And the foam handle bumper protects against scratching or dinging vehicles.

Most lower quality jacks have valves that release abruptly, causing the vehicle to come crashing down.

How controlled is the release valve on the Arcan HJ2500 floor jack?

Hi @Anonymous, I have no problem lowering my car gently with my older model floor jack. However, I can see that if someone wasn't careful enough, the vehicle might be lowered too quickly. I'm not sure about this newer model Arcan HJ2500 floor jack though.

The valve is very smooth, and you can "fine tune" the speed of descent. I work on cars for a living and this does not feel or act like a "cheap jack". I use this model as my "on the road" jack that is easy to lift in and our of my vehicle but still has nearly the lift and capability of my heavier steel shop floor jacks. Of course, as always, never get underneath a vehicle without jack stands properly placed. But this can be used to support an engine with a wood block while trying to realign engine mounts, or to help lift a differential, etc with all the fine lifting and lowering sensitives those tasks involve.
